Happy New Year! Well not really, but it is in the Byzantine liturgical calendar. Today, September 1, marks the beginning of 7531 Annus Mundi (2022 Anno Domini); traditionally, 7531 years since the creation of Adam.
Regardless of anyone’s opinions of the rationality of a 7531 year old earth, I think it’s pretty neat. You can read more about the calendars used in Orthodoxy here and here.
